an idea has been formulated that i believe is fair to all and as such wish to present it ...

set each coach currently on the list to waivers one day apart ... for example

    coach a: 3 days
    coach b: 4 days
coach c: 5 days and so on

meaning one coach per day will come off waivers, this gives everyone a chance to bid on any coach they like or every coach if they choose, as they can bid on the next coach each day if they want.

now once a coach is on your team you can still bid and if you win a bid on a coach later on the coach you already had is released, (this is how the game currently works)

this gives everyone 1 shot at each coach,

now to keep it so that coachs dont go on waivers at the same time, scott would also need to set the leagues coach waivers to be 40.

so what this requires from scott is that he set each coach to different waivers (1 day apart) once, and then sets the leagues automatic waivers to 40 and once hte entire coach list has been through once, setting them back to say a standard 3 days

not to much required of scott, a fair way for everyone to place a blind bid on each coach that they want to bid on, and no chance that you didnt get to bid on each coach that you desired

if you have any questions direct them at tengu or myself and we will do our best to answer them, in our minds this exceeds any other option presented so far.

I don't really like the idea of coaches being started so soon - it will sap all money as we wait for people to make their picks

I'd rate this idea above having all the coaches come off waivers at once, but below an auction (some types of auction, anyway.)

The main problem I see is that to obtain your best coach at the price you want, you'll have to bid multiple times. It will be important to get a safety coach that's "good enough" when he comes available, but then you'll still want to bid on any coach that's better. This will result in a fair number of coaches will be released over the course of the process which means up to a dozen good coaches being bid on again after the last day with more relases and bids to follow.

I think that this could be partially solved by setting the original waivers in salary order, that is the guy with the highest minimum salary comes off waivers first, and then so on. This would approximate desirability and so reduce the amount of bidding and releasing that happens. Once the guy you have is more desirable than whoever is left, you can stop bidding. Having them come off waivers in order of desirability lets this happen sooner.

they dont have to be started now ...

but if it was started now then it would mean that people are more careful about who and how much they bid on, we are already making money in this league anyway and its not like we didnt start with 55 million

I don't see why all of them coming off waivers at the same time wouldn't be cool.

It's how it's always worked. You can either take a gamble on one of the blue chippers, and risk missing out on getting a coach on that day altogether, or you can fly under the radar and get a mid-range coach unopposed at a bargain price.

I just don't see the need to create an artificial apparatus to handle this. Just leave them on waivers until the draft finishes, then let nature take its course.

Signing coaches now will keep contract salary lower than a bidding war after the draft. If you know that you can only afford to give a coach $100,000 per day, then that's all you're going to bid. But if you know that the season will be starting in a few days and will be raking in revenue money, then you might bid $200,000 or more. In the long run, waiting to sign coaches is going to hurt your bank account more than signing them now. Can't anyone else see that?
